A rider to watch: Roberto Tamburini

169_r06_tamburini_gridRoberto Tamburini is one of the top outsiders in the Supersport World Championship. The Italian is 20 years of age, lives in Rimini and he races for the Yamaha Bike Service team, based in his home town. In 2010 he cleaned up in the domestic Supersport championship and also showed some good form in the world championship races he took part in.

An injury in the Silverstone race temporarily interrupted his rise to stardom, but Tamburini is now back: at Aragon he scored an excellent fifth place and the following Sunday he dominated the fourth round of the CIV domestic series at Misano. All eyes will now be on Brno to see if he can continue his current state of form.

"I recovered from the injury at Silverstone in a couple of months, my real problem is that I didn't do much testing in the winter months and in any case it was with a different bike from the one I would then use in the world championship. It was a difficult start to the season, but we are gradually improving."

Your win in CIV at Misano was a boost to your morale. Now what?

"A win helps to wipe out all the dark moments. I could have scored a double but on Saturday I had an engine breakage and being considered moral winner was not enough. I'm going to Brno full of hopes. In my first full world championship season my aim is to always arrive in the top 6 or 7, but if I finish higher, that's even better!"
