BMW Motorrad Italia all fired up after Misano result
The BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike Team heads towards Motorland Aragon following a superb fourth place obtained by Ayrton Badovini at Misano, where the Italian almost made it onto the podium, and the positive debut of Lorenzo Lanzi on its BMW S 1000 RR machine after a lengthy period of inactivity.
Tenth overall in the championship standings is a great starting point for the team in its debut in the Superbike top class, as demonstrated by Badovini's result, and the Italian now has 72 points in the table as the championship reaches the mid-point.
The rider of the second bike will be Lorenzo Lanzi, who again steps in for James Toseland. Lanzi doesn't know the track, but can at least count on the fact that he is no longer an absolute novice on the bike, having notched up a 15th and 11th place at Misano.
Serafino Foti, BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike team manager, declared: "After Ayrton's great race at Misano, we are optimistic for this weekend at Aragon especially seeing as we have already tested on this track and found some good set-up indications, even though the track temperature will be very different from what it was in the test. Ayrton knows the track and should have a positive weekend. Lorenzo Lanzi has never seen the circuit before and he will have to get dialled in. After Misano he now knows the bike a bit better and while continuing his learning curve, can at least now start to concentrate on the track ".
