Monza - A look back at 2010
It was a race weekend under the sign of Max Biaggi, who took pole with a slight advantage over Cal Crutchlow and Michel Fabrizio, Jonathan Rea completed the front row.
In race one Biaggi had to fight with Haslam then Toseland, while Crutchlow and Rea were behind this trio, ready to take advantage. In the final stages the duel between Toseland and Haslam favoured Biaggi, who won in front of James: third was Crutchlow, who right to the end challenged his team-mate.
Biaggi started well also in the second race and his advantage after the first chicane was even more evident after a crash that took out Toseland, Rea and Xaus. Haslam, Crutchlow and Corser followed Biaggi close and Leon was able to take the lead on the fifth lap: Max however snatched it back on the following lap and improved his pace.
On the ninth lap Haslam almost fell off his bike out of the first chicane and had to let go of Biaggi and Crutchlow. The race was decided at the start of the thirteenth lap: Crutchlow came to the first chicane with his bike smoking badly and crashed on his own oil, finishing his race in the gravel trap.
Biaggi was then alone with a four second advantage over Haslam, enough to ensure him the double. Haslam contained his losses with a second place, while Corser was able to take a BMW bike into a podium place for the first time ever.
