Speedway:

Leigh Adams, second in the world championship, won the Scandinavian grand prix in Malilla but closed the gap on the leader, Nicki Pedersen, by only three points to 24.

The Dane, champion in 2003, did not even reach the final but won all five heats in reaching the semi-finals. The victory was Adams's second of the series. The Australian beat his compatriot and world champion Jason Crump into third place with Tomasz Gollob of Poland third.

Chris Harris, the British champion and surprise winner of the British grand prix in Cardiff, won only one race but still lies sixth overall. The other Briton, Scott Nicholls, reached the semi-finals and now lies equal eighth.
